Illegal window tint led to more illegal problems for a Columbia man on Oct. 10.
Officers of the Bamberg Police Department pulled over the driver about 2 a.m. on Heritage Highway because of the excessive degree of tint on his vehicle windows.
Dispatch advised officers that the 23-year-old had a suspended license due to unpaid traffic tickets. When officers conducted a search of the vehicle, they also located a small amount of marijuana and some digital scales.
The man, who said he was “caught off guard with being arrested,” was charged with simple possession of marijuana, drug equipment violations (paraphernalia), first-offense driving under suspension, having no proof of insurance and illegal window tint.
In other reports:
Officers noticed a vehicle with dark window tint on Oct. 10 traveling on U.S. 301 and followed it onto Walnut Street where the driver began to accelerate. The Bamberg Street driver, 23, disregarded two stop signs, and police followed him to where he had parked behind a Bamberg Street residence.
The man was finally located walking on Black Avenue. When he was approached by officers, he began to walk away, then ran into Jones Trailer Park, the report said. When police caught up with him, he was arrested for disorderly conduct (B), failure to stop for blue lights, failure to comply, third-offense driving under suspension and reckless driving.

New York City health officials were preparing Saturday to release the fiancée of a recently diagnosed Ebola patient to her Manhattan apartment where she will remain under quarantine, people familiar with the matter said.
Morgan Dixon, 30 years old, was in close contact with Dr. Craig Spencer since he returned to his New York City home on Oct. 17 from treating Ebola patients in Guinea, officials said, and had been with her fiancé at Bellevue Hospital Center since he was diagnosed with the virus on Thursday.
Ms. Dixon, a grant writer, is expected to return to the upper Manhattan apartment she shared with him, the people said, where she will be quarantined. Further details of her quarantine weren’t available. She and Dr. Spencer met in China, when they were volunteering as English teachers, and are to be married in September 2015, her mother said.
Two friends of Dr. Spencer who spent time with him after he returned from West Africa are also under quarantine at their homes.
Planning for Ms. Dixon’s release came as quarantine procedures for people who have come into contact with Ebola patients are coming under heightened scrutiny.
